BOOK THE EXPERIENCEWhat is a Via Ferrata?
Italian for "iron path," a via ferrata is a steel cable climbing route affixed to a mountainside. The cable is taut and secured to the mountain face every three to 30 feet. The first routes were utilized during WWI to move troops around the Dolomites in Italy. Modern via ferratas are popular across the Alps as a safe way to experience high mountain climbing and are gaining popularity around the world.
Tordrillo Mountain Lodge provides helmets, lanyards, and expert guides to lead you through the course. No prior climbing experience needed.
Via Ferrata Climbing Excursion
Ready to visit an area few people have walked — let alone climbed? The adventure begins with a helicopter ride from Tordrillo Mountain Lodge to the start of the climb, 4,000 feet above sea level. Climbers use two carabiners to fix themselves to the cable, unclipping one at a time at specific anchor points.
Along the way, you'll find multiple scenic viewpoints to pull off, rest, and take in the vast views across the Triumvirate Glacier to the Tordrillo Mountains. At the top of the route, our helicopter pilot will be waiting to whisk guests back to the lodge where more adventure awaits.
