Celebrating the Summer Solstice at TML
June 24, 2014
This past weekend marked the summer solstice and we couldn’t think of a better place to spend it than in Alaska. The summer solstice occurs when the sun’s zenith is at its farthest point from the equator. On the longest day of the year, the rays of the sun are perpendicular to the Tropic of Cancer at 23°30′ North latitude.
Enjoying some summer solstice heli-skiing
Your adventure possibilities are endless during Kings and Corn season at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. The lodge is the perfect place to enjoy the longest day of the year. On the summer solstice the sun rises in Alaska around 4:20 am and doesn’t set until a couple of minutes after 11:40 pm. If you haven’t done the math, that’s over 19 hours of daylight.
At Cast and Carve we like to start the day off
heli-skiing
and then transition to heli-fishing after a delicious lunch break. But the fun doesn’t stop after heli-fishing, because we love water sports on Lake Judd. We provide canoes, inflatable kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, wake boarding and foil boarding. If your activity of choice involves swimming, we provide wet suits and dry suits. With the long daylight hours, water sports are a great summer highlight at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. And don’t forget the option of a heli-hiking or sky trekking adventure!
The daylight hours in Alaska make the lodge the best place to enjoy the summer solstice
Is there a better place to celebrate the summer solstice? We don’t think so. It isn’t too soon to start planning your trip for next year. Visit our
